Why Hiring An Architect Is Essential For Your dream Home?

Everyone dreams of having a beautiful home! And an architect would make this dream come true, pretty easily. But still, people find the thought of hiring an architect inconvenient. Ever wondered why?

There are many preconceived notions that people have regarding hiring an architect. People believe that architects charge a high fee, they should only be hired for high-end projects, and so on. But the fact is, even for small-scale projects, it would be advisable to hire an architect as they would bring out the best results. Let us consider some aspects of hiring an architect:

  • Architect’s Fee: An architect is a qualified professional. They spend a considerable amount of time and effort on a project, in the best interest of the client. And the fee they charge is just a small part of the total budget of the project.
  • Architect’s perception of design: Architect considers client’s vision and requirement for the project. Later, being an expert in their profession, the architect adds a fresh perspective to the design.
  • Coordination and communication: For the success of any project, the client and the architect need to be in constant communication. Depending on the scope of work, an architect might also bring on board his team of consultants such as for- civil works, plumbing works, electrical works, HVAC works, etc. Through effective coordination and communication, they can save client’s time and money. An architect would always add substantial value to the project.
Coordination between the architect and the consultants plays a vital role.

What is the role of an architect in project designing?

During the design process, a project transits through various stages and an architect carries out the following responsibilities:

  • As an initial step, an architect communicates with the client, and understands their spatial and functional requirements of the project. Also, the architect spells out their fee, scope of work and estimated time frame required for project completion.
  • Now comes the concept stage, wherein the architect prepares preliminary drawings, and the client finalizes them. Structural engineer might also provide his inputs at this stage.
  • After the finalization of concept, the architect prepares sanction drawings which are to be duly approved by the local development authority. The sanction drawings shall abide by the local building laws and regulations.
  • The next step involves preparation of working drawings. Also, the architect now coordinates with various consultants for incorporating required building services.
  • Needless to say, communication and co-ordination between the client, architect and the consultants involved is essential for a smooth site construction. Architect also makes regular site visits to ensure complete design execution at site.

Architects are responsible for design, documentation & seeking approval of the building. They are skilled and trained to take up different type of projects, be it renovation of a building or designing someone’s dream home, right from the scratch. And on the contrary, when people don’t hire an architect, they end up compromising with the structural aspect of the building too. If not designed adequately, this may lead to an unsafe structure.

So why not have an experienced professional, who can look after the entire design and construction process, while you get your dream home turning into a reality!
